It certainly has been a marvelous season at the Liz Stubbs Cutting Garden. Volunteers unveiled a beautiful red flower cart that was constructed by Joe Julien, Facility Manager at the Filberg Park. The flower cart is perfect for displaying the freshly made bouquets each week during the Summer months. Visitors to the park surely enjoyed purchasing the bouquets to support maintenance and restoration of the park. While fresh bouquets are a lovely memory from this growing season, volunteers are shifting their focus to Fall florals and holiday greenery creations. Not only have flowers from the Cutting Garden been showing up in bouquets all summer, they have also been drying in garages and nooks and crannies as volunteers plan for upcoming tussie mussie sales. Are you’re wondering what a tussie mussie is? It’s a small flower arrangement of fragrant herbs and blooms. Recently, it was reported that Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex carried a bridal bouquet in the style of a tussie mussie and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge also carried such a bouquet. We look forward to delighting you with these wonderful tussie mussie’s. We will keep you updated about when and where you can find the tussie mussie’s. In the meantime, if you are in the Lodge you can still enjoy bouquets while the cutting garden blooms on.
